As a follow-up to the SHAPES study, this qualitative research explored pregnant women’s views on the acceptability of incorporating a broader range of adiposity measurements, beyond BMI, into early pregnancy antenatal care. The aim was to understand women’s experiences of the measurement process and to identify considerations for implementing such assessments in routine care in a way that is acceptable, respectful, and supportive.

Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 women who had previously taken part in SHAPES, sampled to reflect variation in BMI, age, and parity. Interviews took place around 4–5 months after their measurement appointments. Data were analysed using the Theoretical Framework of Acceptability (TFA).

The study has now been completed, and the manuscript is currently under review for publication.
